He is a district manager and has been with the organization for 4 years. MLS is the largest provider of professional soccer trainers in Connecticut. If Rovers hired a coach from their organization, the coach would attend individual team practices and develop lesson plans for the season. The minimum commitment to hire a MLS trainer is for 2 hours. Rovers discussed the proposal of 15 hours per week for 8 weeks. This would cost $8,040 ($67.50/hr for one trainer) for the season (8 weeks). The majority present believed the expertise provided by a professional trainer would be very good for the Rovers teams. After much discussion, it was agreed to hire one trainer for 8 weeks, for 15 hours per week for the all teams excluding the high school level teams. This encompasses 14 teams (u-9 to u-14 boys and girls) so each team would receive a trainer approximately 6 out of the 8 weeks for a 1.5 hour practice. There are 220 players in this age group. Rovers will share the cost with the players. Players will be charged $20 for the spring season and Rovers will pick up the balance, approximately $3,500. The spring will be a test run and if successful, we will continue the program in the fall. We may utilize the trainer to conduct assessments (tryouts) during the first week of June. Secretary – The February minutes were approved and passed. Treasurer – The balance is $27,000; a decrease of $3,500 for the Mohegan Sun coaches clinic and paint supplies. Any new teams registered this spring need to provide Rob Stingle with the name of their treasurer. The new highschool teams representatives should be: u-18 boys: Rondinone and Waddington, u-16 boys Ray and DeiDolori, u-18 girls: Kulik and Lombardi, u-16 girls: Mesite and Jackie Smith. The highschool teams and the u-14 teams need to add $200 to their spring assessment as a deposit to insure the completion of the required financial report by July 15. The spring fee structure for all teams remains unchanged and Rob will e mail this to all the teams. Registrar – There will be a new system for registration in the fall. It is online registration and each family can do it, or the team manager can do it for everyone. Coaches Director – 0 Boys Director – 0 Girls Director – still trying to form a u-9 girls team for the spring. Efforts to date have not been successful. Laura will follow up with the flyer that was supposed to be given out at Kelly and Wells. Web Site – John suggested that any coach who attended the coaches clinic comment on the experience on the web site. Ann Marie reported that registration is available on the web site for the spring developmental clinic, u-9 girls new team formation, and June tryouts. Field Maintenance – Sean was absent, but Rob gave his report. The major spring task is replacing or fixing the shed. Since no figures were given as to the cost of a replacement shed, the item will be discussed at the next meeting. Tentative spring clean up day will be April 12. All teams must have two adults present at the clean up, usually 9-11 on Sat. morning. The fine is $25 per missing representative and the team will not be allowed to sign up for field practice time until after everyone else. Referee Report - 0 The spring scheduling meeting will be April 9 at Newington Highschool; girls teams start at 6 pm and boys at 7:15. The spring developmental clinic will be Saturday mornings, 9-10:30 April 26 – May 31, sign up is available on the Rovers website. This is a fundraiser for the club and all coaches are encouraged to volunteer their time for one or more Saturday mornings. Golf Tournament – Ann Marie reported that Simsbury Farms is available, Sat, August 16, start time 11 am or noon. She needs to confirm the limit of players, typically we shoot for 100 golfers participating. Because this is such a labor intensive fund raiser, it was agreed that each spring team will need to provide one adult representative to work on this committee. There are numerous tasks and you do not need to know anything about golf to do them. Publicity, marketing, sponsors, raffles, etc. Coaches and managers, please talk to your teams and have the golf tourney representative contact Ann Marie Grashaw who will coordinate meeting times. Any team that does not provide a volunteer will be fined $50. Dave White reported that the cost for a new sign at the fields will be about $275. The group agreed to have Dave move forward and order the sign.
