I understand the primary objectives of my coaching duties are: We do not create heroes or failures among participants who are too young to handle either role. Each participant will learn to play positions on offense and defense during the course of the season. Each player will have a starting position on offense or defense for the game, except for disciplinary reasons. I understand that I will follow the Southwest Metro League rules and their intent. Again, I understand it is not about wins and losses, but it is about creating a positive learning experience for the children. I understand that I will follow the EPFA practice rules which state we will not hold any formal practices, informal practices, captain practices, etc. outside the stated guidelines. The first practice cannot begin until August 14, 2006. I cannot have more than eight practices until the first day of school starts. Once school starts, I cannot have more than three EPFA events per week (and never on Sunday) with events being defined as games or practices. I understand even though my players parents might ask for more, I will play by the rules and not do it. I understand that a child can learn the game of football playing all positions. I might have a future hall-of-fame quarterback or running back, but will allow other children the opportunity to try different positions during the course of practices and games. Besides, this future hall-of-famer will learn just as much playing other positions in games or practices occasionally as well. I understand it is tempting to run plays for my star player all throughout the game, but I will not allow that. I will instead focus on creating a diverse game plan that builds skills across my team. I understand it is my duty to keep my fellow coaches in-line. I will help my commissioner keep the rules and the spirit of the league alive in my grade. Neither I, nor anyone who coaches with me, will use alcohol, drug or tobacco products at any time when associated with an EPFA event, practice or game. I understand I have the right, the obligation and the backing of the EPFA to manage my parents behavior during a game or practice and will instruct them to refrain them from using profanity or behavior not applicable to enhancing the childrens experience playing football. I understand that breaking this conduct pledge will result in me forfeiting the right to coach effective immediately.
