Begin to teach the players individual fielding, throwing, and hitting skills. Coaches Responsibility Coaches primary responsibilities are as follows: * Ensure that all players get equal participation and attention * Maintain equipment throughout the season. Rules 1. Equal playing time for all, regardless of ability. 2. Weekday field times are published on the Commissioner’s schedule. The first half hour before every game is practice. A weekday game consists of four innings or one hour and half. Weekend games consist of four innings or one hour and fifteen minutes (due to the start of the next game). Innings in progress should be completed. 3. An inning is ten batters. Note: The last batter of the inning is treated the same as the first batter. “Running it out” is strictly prohibited due to potential injuries (once the ball is in the infield runners should be stopped by base coaches). 4. Bases are 45 feet apart. No leading off, stealing, overthrows, or additional bases. 5. Batting order is continuous through the entire team, through the entire season (regardless of whether playing in the inning). Example if batter # 6 is the last batter of the game, batter # 7 leads off the next game. 6. Each players gets ten (10) swings, then sits down (not out). Note: A player who strikes out may not proceed to first base. 7. Only adults run the pitching machines. The pitcher is positioned next to (1st base side) the machine. 8. Players should change fielding positions each inning. The defensive positions are limited to ten (10) players, with 4 outfielders. 9. The defensive team may have up to three coaches on the field for instructional purposes. It is recommended that the offensive team have a batting coach, two base coaches and a machine operator. 10. Coaches call rainouts. Games which are rained out may be rescheduled on designated make-up days through the commissioner, if possible. Weather delays: Safety is the utmost concern when there is inclement weather. If rain exists the head coaches need to conference and determine if the game should be delayed or cancelled. If lightning is observed, the play is to be halted and the field cleared until no lightning is observed for 20 minutes before play can be resumed. Play can continue after the weather threat has passed. If it is obvious that the weather condition will not dissipate in a reasonable period of time, the game is to be called.
