The Week that Was…

Division I Notes:

·         2013 All-State Teams were released this week: 2013 WHSBLA Division I All-State

·         2013 All-Americans were also announced: WHSBLA All-Americans

·         Only three things decided this week:

o    Tahoma dropped to Mercer while Curtis beat Kamiak to claim the final South Sound playoff berth.

o    Eastlake dropped its final two games while Issaquah won out to regain first place in the KingCo-East.

o    Bothell-Inglemoor won the games it needed to while Lake Washington dropped to King’s Way to end the season securing a playoff berth for the boys from Northshore.

Division I First Round Preview:

·         Skyline @ King’s Way: Just named All-Americans square off as Skyline’s Spencer Noonan must keep the Knight’s Jack Beall in check.  Fellow 1st Teamer Clayton Frank has Beall’s back.  Can Skyline overcome the long drive and find some offensive punch or can the King’s Way duo overcome a thin bench and lead them into the quarterfinals?  The winner earns a trip to Eastside Catholic on Thursday.

·         Lakeside @ Mercer Island: Lions have played Bainbridge and Eastside Catholic tough in recent weeks.  Can Peter Scott continue his hot goaltending and keep Lakeside close enough to upset the Islanders?  The winner travels to Issaquah on Thursday.

·         Curtis @ Eastlake: Eastlake fell hard the last week but should be reenergized to earn a playoff win and another shot at Bellevue on Thursday.

·         Bothell-Inglemoor @ Bainbridge: Spartans just have too much firepower and should move on to another showdown with Auburn Riverside.

Division II Quarterfinal Preview:

·         Mount Si @ Nathan Hale – Wildcats riding high after big upset of Everett but Hale has been one of the most consistent teams all season Mount Si found a way to limit the high scoring SeaWolves and the Hawkins/Strong duo.  Can they find a way to repeat and hold Snider, Johnson, Woolston and MacIntire in check.

·         Ballard @ Stadium – Fitting these two would meet again as they played to a tie in an early season non-league game.  Ballard snuck up on Wenatchee putting three KingCo teams in the quarterfinals.  Stadium remains the lone Olympic representative.

·         Richland @ Sehome-Bellingham – Richland survived a controversial overtime to get past Kennedy Catholic while the Warriors dismantled Klahowya.  Richland will have a tough task having to make the 5 hour trek to Bellingham.  Two of the last three unbeaten class in the best quarterfinal record wise.

·         Overlake @ Garfield: The winner of this one may be the favorite to win it all.  Overlake is playing at a new level and Garfield has been steadily strong all season as the other unbeaten. Owls have big game experience coming out of the Metro but the KingCo has shown to be a stronger conference then we may have realized.
