COACHING EDUCATION CORE VALUES
MOTION: accept Core Values Resolution presented at January meeting (See attached). MOTION ACCEPTED. Coaching Education committee will prepare proposal for how to implement this fall.
Andy Goodman reported. No more space at U12B for the spring season. U16B has 21 signed up but some players may be moved up to U18/U19B, will keep registration open and waitlist U16B players. Coaches need to make sure to submit assistant coach information so that it will be on rosters and player cards can be printed for coaches.
COACHING EDUCATION REPORT
Ralph Perrotto reported. Samba Sundays will make about $300-$350. There are only 2 PYS coaches signed up for G & F courses being offered in March. PTUSA training academy will begin April 6th and will use ½ of one field. There will be a 20% discount for PYS players. Ralph will attend Mass Youth Soccer Coaching Ed Dir. Meeting in April.
Fran Squatrito reported. PYS will field BU16, BU19 and GU18 teams this spring. Season will begin April 4th. Last game will be June 6th. Playoffs will be June 13, 14, 20 and 21. MTOC will be June 26, 27, 28. U10s will not need player cards, just rosters. Discussed how many home games we can handle for each division. There can be no more than 7 U12 games a day, for other divisions there is not an issue with field space.
REFEREE COORDINATOR REPORT
Bill Tholen was recertified as a referee assignor.
The April PYS Board meeting will be held at the South Shore Field House.
REFEREE FEE PROPOSAL
Bill Tholen presented proposal to address the shortage of U16/U18/U19 refs. Currently PYS has been paying U16 center refs $40, U16 asst. refs $20, U18/U19 center refs $45 and U18/U19 asst refs $22. PYS is at the bottom range of pay compared to other towns. MOTION: Increase ref pay--U16 center refs $45, U16 asst refs $30, U18/U19 center refs $50, U18/U19 asst ref $35 and give Bill Tholen the authority this spring to match other town’s rate if it is necessary to go out of town to find a ref. MOTION ACCEPTED.
PTUSA FIELD RENTAL
Tabled until next month
Mike Tropeano presented Evaluation Committee’s proposal for modifications to the “Coach and Player Selection Procedures” document regarding select team tryouts and other clarification items. Board discussed proposal. Proposed changes include: limit allowing coach to identify only one assistant coach prior to draft (Sec. 2.3), clarify fall U10 draft is face down (Sec. 4.2) and spring U10 redraft will be face up (Sec. 4.4), clarify select team tryout dates will be posted on the website and emailed to the PYS email groups (Sec. 4.5), clarify language that it is recommended there be 10-15 people evaluating instead of “should” (Sec. 4.5.2), clarify player trades will not be allowed unless extenuating circumstances and approval of majority of coaches in division with coordinator as tie-breaker (Sec. 4.7), clarify it will be the Board of Directors that can invalidate a draft not held in accordance with drafting procedure (Sec. 4.8), player notification of select team will be made by posting roster online (Sec. 4.9), clarify minimum playing time is equal time (Sec. 5). Other changes to Sec. 4.5.4 were discussed and will be sent back to committee for further revision. MOTION: Accept Evaluation Committee’s recommendation and change the PYS document “Coach and Player Selection Procedures” Sections 2.3, 4.2, 4.4, 4.5, 4.5.2, 4.7, 4.8, 4.9, and 5 (see attached). MOTION ACCEPTED.
CRANBERRY LEAGUE PROPOSAL
Mike Tropeano presented Evaluation Committee’s proposal regarding the Coastal Fall Cranberry League for U12 and U14s. Proposed opportunity would allow all registered U12 and U14 players that participate in fall in-town soccer to play in an additional league with other towns. The season would be run to “break even.” Registration would be after fall season begins. If more than one team at an age group the teams will be equal and picked by coordinator and coaches. If too many players for one team but not enough for two teams, players would participate on a rotating basis. No additional practices. Issues discussed included field usage, scheduling conflicts, and picking coaches. Evaluation Committee will work more on the proposal and present updated proposal at a future meeting.
Mike Tropeano presented 5 proposals from picture vendors (Color Graphics, All Star Photos, Eastern Exposures, Bishop Photos and Dad’s Photo). Board compared and discussed the pros and cons of the various proposals. MOTION: Use Dad’s Photo for pictures this spring. MOTION ACCEPTED.
