A Youth Sports Philosophy

What are the coaching philosophies of your children's coaches? If their coaches have not told you in a pre-season parent meeting, ask. (And if the coach has not called a pre-season parent meeting, request one.)

It may seem awkward to ask coaches for their philosophies, but coaching is a big responsibility. Your children will spend more time with their coaches than with most of their teachers...in an intense, physical and emotional environment that immediately reveals your children's athletic strengths and weaknesses.

Therefore, you will want to know your children are with coaches you trust, and to trust them, you should know their philosophies.
