Rowan Carroll

rowan photoRowan became addicted to rowing during her novice year at Mount Holyoke College in 1989, and has enjoyed being involved with the sport in many capacities since then. She competed internationally in both sweep and sculling for Great Britain and England, moving to America when she “retired” in 2001.  She moved to the Upper Valley in 2003 and joined the club as both a coach and competitor.  Most recently she was rowing with the competitive women, and has been coaching the Dartmouth sophomore summer girls and teaching the Dartmouth FLIP tanks classes.  She has been serving on the board as an interim board member since last summer, and looks forward to getting more involved in the membership role.

Erika Dade

My office-mate in grad school, who had rowed at Brown, towed me down to the boathouse one day saying I had to try this great sport. I was hooked completely and forever. After school, I rowed competitively for Lake Washington Rowing Club in Seattle for 5 years before taking a decade-long detour in England. I moved to the Upper Valley with my family in 2003, and discovered UVRF through the summer programs. I have rowed with the Masters Women for 2 years now and also love to scull. Some of my favorite things, besides being on the CT River at sunrise, training and competing, include jumping in a Learn-to-Row boat with a group of enthusiastic converts, and racing in the end-of-summer BBQ relay. I would be pleased to serve on the UVRF Board to contribute toward the work of running and growing this well-developed program.

Lynn Fisher

fisher photoI found UVRF at the end of the 2004 season when I enrolled in the last Learn-to-Row class that year.   Since I teach high school math and computer science in Woodstock, finding training time in a single was simpler than meeting a crew.  I rapidly developed an addiction for it, soon finding myself racing the club's singles and shopping for my own scull.    In addition to satisfying my endorphin dependence, UVRF has given me great friends, the excitement of competition, and just plain fun. I appreciate the opportunity to help the club by serving on the Board.  If UVRF continues to operate effectively and safely, others can be as enriched by rowing as I have been.

Liz Marshall

Liz Marshall has been rowing since 1976.  In the summer of 1977 she started rowing in a single and has been sculling ever since.  She has competed in the Head of the Charles on and off since 1978 and has competed in a number of other races as well, including the Isles of Shoals in a recreational single. She has served as the Fuller Steward and has just completed a three-year term on the UVRF Board.
