Nominees for the UVRF Board of Directors:

Kevin Cotter

cotter photoKevin has been an oarsman since 1981 and a coach since 1986.  His coaching career started in Buffalo, NY at West Side Rowing Club and the Nichols School.  From that position, he moved into collegiate rowing and became the first head coach of Hamilton College Men's and Women's Rowing.  After a few years at Hamilton, his family relocated to Hanover, NH in 1999 where he has been actively involved in Dartmouth’s rowing program. Kevin’s coaching experience in the Upper Valley includes Head Coach at North Country Rowing Club, Assistant Varsity Lightweight Coach at Dartmouth College, and Director of Dresden Competitive Rowing Club. Kevin became a Board member in July of 2011.

Rosi Kerr

kerr photo Rosi Kerr came back to the Upper Valley in 2010, and after running into Rowan Carroll for the third time at Lou’s, joined UVRF last spring.  Rosi started rowing in seventh grade, when the oars weighed more than the rowers, on the Charles River. She was a spare on the 1993 U.S. Junior National Team. Rosi rowed for four years at Dartmouth, serving as Captain and helping the Big Green bring home two Sprints medals as stroke of the Varsity eight. After college, Rosi coached at Dartmouth and at Boston University before leaving coaching to pursue a graduate degree in environmental science. In graduate school, Rosi took up sculling with the New Haven Rowing Club. After she moved to Boston in 2009, Rosi joined Riverside Boatclub where she reunited with a Dartmouth teammate in the double and periodically coached the lightweight women. Rosi rowed with the women’s sweep team at UVRF this fall and raced at the Head of the Charles in the eight

Beth Meyer

meyer photo Beth began rowing in prep school when the boys' team was looking for one more to fill a boat and was (easily) convinced to give it a try.  The Gunnery didn't have a girls' team at the time so the league allowed Beth to compete with the boys.  On day 1, she was hooked and went on to row for Dartmouth for 4 years.  She coached teams at Choate Rosemary Hall, Wesleyan University, and several summer programs including UVRF, Riverfront Recapture, and the Kent School.  Beth returned to UVRF in Summer 2008 and has been competing with the masters' women since.  Beth has been an inspired training with such a powerful, dedicated group of women (and men) and would find it a pleasure to lend her talents to the Board as the club continues to grow in ways that best serve the community.  Off the water, Beth has spent her career in education and for the last 10 years as a major gifts fundraiser for Dartmouth College.  She will be married to the (other) love of her life, Shawn Kelley, in February and inducted into The Gunnery's athletics Hall of Fame in June.  Shawn and Beth have two fluffy "children", Cooper and Henley.

Louise Moon

moon photo Louise learned to sweep row in Dartmouth’s FLIP program in the tanks eleven years ago and it is “water under the bridge” from there!  The local rowing club (Dresden) had a very short rowing program in the first summers and work demands meant limited time on the water. So she spent a weekend in Craftsbury to learn sculling. In spite of rain, sleet and snow in May (including having to learn to get from the water into the boat in that freezing water!), she fell in love with sculling and left the weekend with the nicknames “Queen” and “the natural.” After purchasing one of the first Fluidesigns made, she has sculled every summer since then, competitively when injuries, work, and weddings don’t prevent it. A highlight was rowing with her daughter Heather at the Head of the Charles in the Parent/Child event. She served on the former Sculling (Sub)committee a few years ago, and hopes to be able to contribute more to the local rowing program by serving on the UVRF Board. What better way to spend time than to row and be with wonderful people?!

Janet  Saint Germain

saint germain photo Janet didn't start rowing until she tried a Novice eight program with the Pembroke College Boat Club in grad school. Despite rowing in early winter mornings in various types of rain and wintry mix, she was hooked. After a rowing hiatus, Janet moved back to the Upper Valley and decided to get back into rowing through the UVRF Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced sweep programs, which she did over several years. While still sweep rowing  indoors in the tanks from time to time, or out on the river when needed at a UVRF regatta, Janet has primarily switched over to sculling. Over the years, she has found UVRF a great place to learn sweep rowing and sculling. And as a sculler, the camaraderie from UVRF motivates and inspires her to be a better rower.  Janet looks forward to serving on the Board, and to helping the club continue to grow and improve.
